Major Moscow's Attacks Cut Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

The country's power facilities have faced escalating strikes in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and encountered disruption to drinking water, according to local authorities.

Simultaneously, a minor was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over the past few days, while the country's government has demanded "concrete actions" from international partners to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but decisive action - from the United States, Europe and the Group of Seven - in providing defensive weapons and enforcing penalties," he wrote in a social media post.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty rockets struck energy facilities, describing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were striving to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles struck power facilities and residential structures in the capital.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to city authorities.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region came under intense attacks throughout the evening. A minor was killed and three other people were hurt.

The strikes succeed evenings of air raids in the area, sections of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The whole nation is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to spot.

Government officials told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already affecting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were preparing for further attacks.
